Just another week

This week was spent with me teaching and Brian looking for a job.  I am really enjoying my second graders.  They are cute and like school which makes it fun to work with them.  I do come home exhausted, however.  

Brian starts school tomorrow, which doesn't really excite him.  It will be a busy semester with all of the hard classes he is taking.  

Other than that this week has just been a normal, uneventful week.

My first week of school

This week I went back to school, but this time as a 2nd grade teacher.  The kids came back on Wednesday.  It's been fun.  They are so cute and for the most part eager to learn.  It is so exhausting, however.  They require a lot more attention than 5th graders did, but I'm still enjoying it.  I have 24 students and I hope it stays that way, it is such a nice round number to be able to split into groups, etc.  

We've also been looking for a new apartment.  The one we are in is just too small, we are outgrowing it.  We found a whole house for rent, for about the same price that we're paying now.  It has 2 bedrooms and a loft that could also be used for a guest bedroom.  We will probably be moving in 3 weeks.  We don't look forward to moving all of the stuff we've accumulated since we've been married, but we can't wait to have  more room and a house all to ourselves!

My last week of summer

This week was my last week of summer and it was only half a week.  I started school on Thursday with meetings etc.  I have Monday and Tuesday of next week to work on my room and planning and then the students come Wednesday.  I have so much to do before I am ready for them to come back.  Hopefully I can get it all done in the next 2 days.  

This week was fairly uneventful, however on monday night we went to dinner with Weston and Kirstie to The Mayan Restaurant.  It was our first time there and we really enjoyed it.  It kind of looks like a jungle with a waterfall and pool down at the bottom.  Then every 40 minutes or so they do a show with people doing cool dives into the pool.  It was such a neat experience.  

We went and saw Star Trek yesterday.  I have never been interested in Star Trek before, but I had hear this movie was pretty good so we decided to go.  We both really liked it, unfortunately I don't think the series is anything like it.

So thus ends our first summer married and with neither of us working.  We had a lot of fun this summer and created a lot of new memories that we will have forever.  

Busy Week

We did a lot of traveling this past week.  We came back from Indiana on Tuesday.  We flew out of Louisville, which was a little scary because there was a huge storm there that was dumping water.  Many roads were flooded(see video link on the right).  We were worried we wouldn't be able to get to the airport and that our flight wouldn't be able to get out.  Luckily we made it, although it was very difficult to see the road during much of the drive.  After 3 layovers and several hours.  We finally made it home at about 12:30am.  

We had about a day at home before we had to go to Logan, Ut for my brother's wedding.  We had a fun family dinner at Wingers the night before the wedding.

The wedding was in the Logan Temple Friday morning.  We really enjoyed being able to be there for that.  Kirstie, the bride, looked beautiful, and Weston looked very handsome in his tux.  It was a long day with the wedding, wedding lunch, ring ceremony, and reception, but it was fun.  I can't believe my baby brother is married.

Also, last minute we were invited to Bear Lake by my uncle to stay in his cabin.  We decided we didn't have any plans for Saturday, so we went.  Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate.  It was cold and rainy all day, so we weren't able to go out in the boat.  We were, however, able to go out on the 4 wheelers, which was pretty fun.  

Now I only have a few days left of summer before I go back to school.  Oh how the summer flies by. 

One Year Anniversary

Today marks one year of marriage for Brian and I.  It has been a wonderful year of changes and adjustments.  To celebrate this milestone, Brian and I took a little trip to Cincinnati together.  We went to the aquarium on Thursday, because it was too rainy for the zoo.  We were able to see sharks that we had never seen before, Shark Rays.  They literally looked like they were half sting ray and half shark.  They also had two dorsal fins, it was pretty scary looking. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of them.

 Then we stayed overnight in a nice hotel.  The next morning we were planning on going to the zoo.  We were on our way there when we saw a sign for King's Island (an amusement park).  At this point we decided to change our plans and go there instead.  It was a lot of fun.  We rode several crazy roller-coasters.  One of them even had us recline on our backs and then the ride tipped us so we were facing the ground.  It was basically like we were flying crazily over the ground.  I managed to make it through the day without getting really sick (with the help of dramamine). After the park's newest, fastest, and highest roller-coaster, however, I couldn't ride anymore coasters.  I had reached my limit.  Brian however, rode it one more time because it was so cool.  

We had a great time at King's Island and are glad we decided to do that instead of the zoo.  

After a long, fun day at the amusement park, we met David and Betsy, Brian's brother and sister-in-law for dinner at Montgomery Inn.  It's a nice restaurant that serves World-famous ribs.  It was very delicious.  It was a good ending to a great day.
