Yard work

This week has gone by very quickly. I had Thursday and Friday off for Fall Break. It was reallynice and relaxing.
On Friday when Brian got home form school, we decided to go out on a hike since it was such a nice day. We went up Provo Canyon. The drive was really pretty with all of the fall colors. The hike, however, wasn't nearly as pretty. It was very dry and yellow/brown.

Saturday we went to the BYU Lost and Found Sale. We were there 10 minutes early and the line was already wrapped around the room and out into the hall. There were so many people there. We were able to find two nice umbrellas and Brian found a brand new hoodie sweatshirt still in its package.
We spent much of the afternoon out in the yard pulling up weeds. It was such a nice day we enjoyed being outside. We didn't get it all finished, but we had some good progress. Many spiders and insects were upset with us for destroying their longtime homes. I have never seen so many different kinds and sizes of spiders in one place. It was pretty gross.

After weeding

After about an hour or two of work we decided we were finished for the day. I am pretty happy with what we have done so far. it looks so much better.

Getting Crafty

Before makeover
After Makeover
Cute mirror

I have today and tomorrow off for Fall break and I decided I was in the mood to try some craft projects. My friend told me about a blog that has a bunch of ideas for crafts so I went on and found the directions to cover shoes to make them super cute. Then, since I was in the crafty mood, I decided to make my own bathroom mirror. I have been trying to find a stand mirror for the bathroom so I can sit in there to do my makeup. They are about $30 and I didn't want to pay that so I came up with this idea of buying a piece of mirror and then putting it in a frame. I found a really cheap graduation frame for $3 and it was a good quality frame. I covered the frame and voila, a cute mirror. Then because I had extra fabric from my shoes, I decided to cover one of my headbands to match. It turned out super cute.

The joys of fall

I have always loved fall. For me it always meant starting school, getting new clothes and of course the cooling down from summer. I especially love the leaves as they change color. Of course along with the positive comes a little negative. We have had to scrape our window every morning, which isn't so great.
This week we took our 2nd graders on a field trip to Hee Haw farms. It was really fun for them and me. There was a corn maze, pumpkin patch, hay ride, etc. We had the perfect weather, and enough adult chaperones to make it enjoyable for the teachers. It was the perfect outing for a beautiful fall day.
Brian is still working away at school. It's been a tough semester, but he is doing well.
This weekend we decided we needed to do some work out in our yard. We have a flower bed/garden going around the front of our house. It is terribly overgrown with massive weeds. Apparently the previous tenants didn't feel the need to pull up weeds, or do anything to the flower bed. We were only able to spend about 30 minutes working on it, but hopefully after next weekend we will have it cleared out. We are enjoying having our own yard. :)

FYI I think i finally got the comments bar to work. if it doesn't, let me know.

Getting Settled

We spent much of this week unpacking and getting settled into our new house. We still aren't finished, but it's beginning to feel more like home. This weekend has also been fun because my parents came down for the weekend. We went to the BYU/USU football game on Friday night. We went shopping on Saturday. We were trying to find curtains for our new place, but haven't found anything "perfect" yet. It's been a great weekend. It was nice actually having the space to have people stay over.
